Nokia C3- This is a low-budget phone that is lower in class than the E series. It is easy to confuse it with devices, since it looks very similar to them due to the presence of a full-size QWERTY keyboard, and also has a similar form factor. This is where the similarities end, since Nokia C3 does not have Symbian or any other operating system.

The Finnish giant has given the phone a number of features that make it an effective messaging device. The Nokia C3 also stands out for its built-in social networking services (Twitter, Facebook), as well as the presence of Ovi Chat and Wi-Fi connectivity and a QWERTY keyboard.

Announced in April 2010, Nokia C3 appeared on the shelves in June, and at the moment its price (without a contract) is 100 euros. Nokia fans can choose from three color schemes in which the phone is made - gray (Slate Grey), white-gold (Golden White) and pink (Hot Pink).

Design

Although the Nokia C3 is an "entry-level" phone, it looks quite impressive thanks to the keyboard and smartphone form factor. In fact, without being a connoisseur, it can easily be confused with the E-series smartphones. The stylish handset measures 115.5 x 58.1 x 13.6 mm and weighs about 114 grams (including battery). The sleek and shiny Nokia C3 is fingerprint-sensitive, as the manufacturer has used polished plastic in the body construction, which gets dirty easily, especially after the phone comes into contact with the ear. Well, so, there are no problems in terms of assembly with this phone.

The front panel of the phone is divided into two areas - a display with a diagonal of 2.4 inches and a full-size QWERTY-keyboard. You can also notice the standard set of keys - two context keys, accept and reject the call (Accept / Reject) and a large D - pad. It can be used as an enter key if you press it in the middle. Two more keys that replace "Symbian menu" and "Clear (Delete)" are made in the form of metal strips between the context keys and the keys for accepting and rejecting a call, as can be seen in the photo.

The Communities key allows you to quickly connect with your friends. The full-sized QWERTY keyboard looks the same as the Nokia 71. It has 37 keys and they are comfortable and responsive. This makes the typing process clear and enjoyable.

The 2-megapixel camera on the back of the phone has no flash or autofocus. Next to it, on the right, is a small speaker marked with a "grid". The battery cover is made of metal alloy, giving the phone a certain level of solidity. The back cover is removed by pressing the clips on the sides of the phone. On the left side of the phone is a microSD memory card slot and a microUSB port. Both of these slots are closed in the classic way - with small plastic tapes. At the same time, they are quite difficult to open, but relatively easy to break.

There are no keys on the right side of the phone, which means users must use the D-pad to adjust the volume while talking or listening to music through the player. There is also nothing on the bottom end, and the headphone jack (3.5 mm standard) and the charging port are located on the top end of the device.

In general, this phone gives the impression of a well-built, it is compact, stylish and very elegant. If you like it, but for some reason you can't afford it, then the Nokia C3 will definitely be the best choice if you don't need a smartphone.

Display and camera

The C3 has a small 2.4-inch LCD display with 262 million colors and a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels. The screen size as well as the image quality are similar to those of the E-series. The colors and contrast of the images are just fine, and given the good brightness even in sunlight, we get a screen that can meet all user requirements.

The 2-megapixel camera has only a few basic functions and settings, no autofocus or flash. Perhaps the camera is one of the weaknesses of the device, but, in the end, this model is not positioned as a "camera phone".

The camera interface does not have anything new and in this sense remains quite simple. Image preview is performed in full screen mode. The user can change the white balance (auto, sunny, incandescent, fluorescent) and color tone (normal, sepia, black and white, negative). The changes will not affect the photos in a positive way, as the quality of the camera module is too low. As you can see from the photos below, there is significant noise and the detail in the photo is negligible.

The Nokia C3 is, in general, unfairly equipped with such a weak camera, but if you do not have special requirements for this part of the phone, then it will not cause any problems. The maximum resolution that can be used for shooting is 1600x1200 pixels, and the maximum resolution for watching movies is 320x240 pixels (at 20 frames per second).

Menu and software

The Nokia C3 runs on the S40 6th Edition interface, which is the latest user interface from Nokia. Being the most user friendly on the market in general, the S40 is stable and provides a good experience. However, there are some new "tricks" and changes that will take the experience to another level. So, the icons in the menu have been changed, and the three-dimensional animation has been removed.

Firmware includes Flash Lite 3 player and MMS 1.3. Message support has been improved so that attachments up to 600 KB are allowed. Improved support for WMA and WMV codecs. The phone has several useful applications such as search, alarm clock, calendar, to-do list, notes, calculator, countdown timer, world clock and stopwatch.

The menu is fully customizable and any MP3, MIDI or AAC file can be assigned as a ringtone. Up to 2000 contacts can be stored in a contact list, and each contact can have up to 5 different phone numbers. Fonts can also be customized, but only those that appear when you open Contacts, Web Browser, and Messages.

We also noticed a new category in the main menu - Communities. Users can log in and set up their Twitter and Facebook accounts and chat on those services at the same time. The file manager, which used to be located in the Photos section, has now been moved to the Application / Gallery section. The standard browser from Nokia has been replaced by another - MiniOpera for faster loading of web pages.

Also preinstalled are some games written in Java - Blockd, Bounce Tales, and Sudoku. The phone is compatible with Java MIDP 2.1 applications, but there is a limit on the size of installed programs, usually 1 MB. And it will affect most Java-compatible applications.

Communication options

Nokia C3 is fully compatible with GPRS and EDGE Class 32 standards, but is not compatible with 3G networks. Tests show good phone performance in terms of data transfer (EDGE 179 kbps download and 72 kbps upload), but this can be highly dependent on the location of the phone and the service provider.

The phone is equipped with Bluetooth 2.1 and microUSB 2.0. Synchronization with a personal computer is possible through its own microUSB port, but recharging through it is not possible.

The device includes the Opera Mini browser, which has replaced the WebKit-based HTML interned browser. The previous browser handled pages less accurately than the current one, but pages loaded faster. You can also say that scrolling has become slow, but at least Flash 3.0 support is in order. The old HTML browser based on WebKit has not disappeared anywhere, it is there, but it is not used to access the Internet.

As for messages, the phone accepts standard text messages, MMS 1.3 (with 600 Kb attachments) and e-mail. The message client works with POP3, SMTP, and IMAP4 protocols, and supports more than one email account.

The Community category allows users to log into their Facebook and Twitter accounts and chat with family or friends. Ovi Chat is also a quick messaging service, but it's not very popular among users.

One of the great features of the phone is definitely that it can communicate with the local area network using the IEEE 802.11 b/g WLAN protocol, which will save on data transfer costs.

The device supports 4 communication standards (GSM 850 / GSM 900 / GSM 1800 / GSM 1900), but has a mediocre quality of GSM signal reception. However, the sound quality and loud on both ends, despite the fact that the "Voice Clarity" technology is absent here. Unfortunately, the vibrating alert is not very pronounced, which can lead to a large number of missed calls if the phone is in the Silent profile (quiet).

Processor and Memory

The phone is equipped with an ARM11 processor running at 369 MHz. It doesn't have multitasking options, so it won't be possible to switch your browser to the background while you're reading email. This may sound negative, but you will not have problems with the fact that many applications are running at the same time.

The phone's memory is 64 MB SDRAM, but only 55 of them are provided for free use by the owner. The memory can be expanded up to 8GB with a microSD card slot. The package includes a 2 GB card.

Multimedia Features

The built-in player looks pretty decent and has a decent feature set. Even though it's not labeled as a "musical" phone, the phone has a standard 3.5mm headphone jack, complete with wired headphones (WH-102). The music player is compatible with multiple formats - AAC, AAC+, eAAC+, MP3, WMA and AMR-NB. Its interface hasn't changed, but it's still good enough for an entry-level phone.

The player has features such as equalizer, stereo expansion, repeat and random selection of songs. The equalizer can be adjusted, and you can apply preset modes - normal, pop, rock, classic and jazz. I was pleasantly surprised by the good sound quality, although we are talking about a device that belongs to the initial price segment and is not positioned as “musical”.

The lack of hardware keys for the music player can be made up for with Bluetooth headphones, as the phone supports the A2DP standard. The small speaker on the back cover sounds medium in intensity, but the sound will be muffled if you put the phone on the table. There is also a radio with the RDS function, which can replace the player, and you can store up to 20 radio stations.

The built-in video player is not worth much attention, since the display is still small, and it recognizes a small number of video codecs (3GP and MP4 formats).

Battery

The rechargeable 1320 mAh Li-ion battery BL-5J has an official standby time of 800 hours and about 7 hours of talk time. These values are close to those of the E series phones, so we can talk about a high level of autonomy. After a week of testing, this autonomy was impressive, since the need for recharging arose only twice a week. A not very active user will probably charge the device even once a week, which is more than worthy for such a device.

Impression

The Nokia C3 is simply the holy grail for chat fans, or text lovers' heaven. While I'm in love with the Nokia E series, I'm not biased when I say that the C3 is one of the best low-end phones on the market. Of course, tastes may differ, but if you want an inexpensive phone with a QWERTY keyboard and Wi-Fi, this is exactly what you want.

What well

The Nokia C3 phone has some of the features of the E-series smartphones as a kind of basis, although it is functionally completely different. Since it has a full-size QWERTY keyboard, Wi-Fi and an excellent battery, we can say that Nokia C3 has the main features of the E-series. There are other "charms" that can be found in this device: social networking services (Twitter, Facebook ), high-quality music sound, Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP support, microSD card slot, 3.5mm headphone jack, stereo FM radio with RDS support and a great 2.4-inch display. And if you consider that you can get all this for just 100 euros, then this phone is a great buy.

What is wrong

We can say that a possible reason for not buying this phone may be the poor quality of the camera module and the inability to view documents. Other minor drawbacks include the lack of multitasking, which is quite useful if you use multiple instant messaging services, and the lack of a "smart link" feature. In addition, there is no possibility of recharging via a microUSB cable.

Mobile phones with touch controls are becoming a worthy replacement for push-button models. This has been happening since 2013. Currently, it is almost impossible to find a smartphone with a keypad on the shelves of modern stores. Despite this, some smartphones still have a sliding keyboard, and this fact indicates that not every company is fond of only touch displays.

LG Enact

LG is primarily focused on touchscreen smartphones. Despite this, the button model can still be successfully found. Moreover, the device successfully operates on the Android operating system. Maybe this particular device will please people who do not strive too actively and successfully to understand current trends.

LG Enact pleases with ease of operation, but at the same time it corresponds to its fancy brothers in terms of functionality. Among the additional advantages is a very powerful and decent battery.

There will be downsides, of course. For example, a smartphone has a small display (diagonal is only 4 inches), but even such dimensions do not lead to a refusal to buy.

Technical data:

  • 1.2 GHz Snapdragon 400 processor;
  • built-in memory - 8 gigabytes;
  • battery capacity - 2460 mAh;
  • operating system - Android version 4.1;
  • camera - 5 megapixels with LED-backlight.

In fact, the specifications are average and suggest a practical approach to a mobile phone. The cost is $350.

Nokia C6

Nokia C6 has won a real interest in itself. The smartphone is ideal for fans of an active lifestyle, who still gravitate towards a qwerty keyboard. The mobile phone is running the fifth version of the Symbian S60 operating system, which, fortunately, is characterized by maximum convenience.

The smartphone has 4 rows of keys that represent almost all Cyrillic letters. The exception was two letters - X, b. On the right side of the keyboard is a navigation system that successfully replaces the arrows. Among the advantages of buttons is their large size and convex shape. White backlight allows you to successfully and without any problems typing even in the dark.

  • bluetooth;
  • wifi;
  • corporate navigator;
  • the ability to use memory cards;
  • radio;
  • 5 megapixel camera.

The screen has a resolution of 640 by 360 pixels, and this is already enough to watch the video.

An interesting feature is the minimum weight (50 grams). The smartphone is presented in black and white.

BlackBerry Venice

BlackBerry offers a unique smartphone with a slide-out keyboard called the Venice. This model features a 5.1-inch curved screen. Technical data and functionality please:

  • screen - 5.1 inches. The most convenient and pleasant work is expected thanks to the smartphone display;
  • 8-core processor that successfully performs almost any task;
  • 16-megapixel camera that allows you to create high-quality pictures;
  • battery capacity - 3650 mAh for long-term work on a single charge.

However, initially the smartphone attracts with its unique design: the front glass is actually curved around the edges. It can be assumed with full confidence that such a form will please with maximum ergonomics.

BlackBerry Passport

This smartphone is popular with businessmen and executives. It should be noted that it turned out to be one of the fastest, best and most functional among models with a sliding keyboard.

The smartphone initially looks expensive and prestigious, which causes only the best impressions. Moreover, many people will be happy to be able to control in two ways at once: a touch screen and a slide-out keyboard. However, the smartphone is offered without the Cyrillic alphabet, which turns out to be an atypical drawback. For successful communication, you have to regularly use a translator from transliteration to Russian or double buttons, which actually complicates the process of typing any text. If you use the keyboard for navigation, the smartphone can be controlled with ease, because the buttons are adapted even for copying, pasting, highlighting different texts.

Despite the high cost (about 43,000 rubles), BlackBerry Passport is ready to please with its versatility. All functions are brought to almost perfection, which, without a doubt, leaves the best impression.

Despite the fact that smartphones with a keypad are becoming a thing of the past, similar models can still be found on the market. The most important thing is to carefully study all the offers and understand which option is best to make the right choice, since only in this case you can be completely satisfied with the purchase.

Video: best smartphone with slide-out keyboard 2017

The Nokia E5 is one of the latest models in a long line of Eseries business-oriented phones, which is actually an upgraded version of the Nokia E72 with the same QWERTY keyboard and landscape display.

The body of the Nokia E5 is almost entirely made of plastic - with the exception of the battery cover. The smartphone looks much more austere than the E72, which has some design improvements, such as chrome trim. The Nokia E5's 2.4-inch display with a resolution of 320x240 pixels provides sufficient image sharpness for comfortable smartphone work - in particular, typing messages and editing small documents, although the display seems small for perfect web surfing and watching videos. An important advantage of the display is the horizontal orientation, which makes working with the phone more convenient for business users. Although the display of the Nokia E5 displays fewer colors than its predecessor E72 (256K instead of 16M), this cannot be considered a drawback of the phone - given that the device is aimed primarily at business users, the reduction in the number of displayed colors seems quite reasonable. a step to reduce the price and increase the phone's battery life.

The QWERTY keyboard is perhaps one of the key advantages of the Nokia E5: compact and at the same time quite comfortable, with rubberized keys. The only drawback is not the size, but the shape of the keyboard keys, which you will have to get used to before reaching the optimal typing speed.

Otherwise, the design of Nokia E5 is quite standard: in addition to the display and QWERTY keyboard, the front panel of the device has start and end call buttons, a navigation key, 2 shortcut buttons (menu and message dialing mode). Unlike the E72, there is no camera on the front of the E5. On the rear panel of the body of the device are a 5-megapixel camera with LED flash and a speaker. At the top of the case there is a microUSB port, a port for connecting a charger, which is standard for all Nokia devices, and a 3.5 mm headphone jack.

Interface:

Nokia E5 runs Symbian S60 3rd Edition like its predecessors E72 and E71. Of course, Symbian is not a bad operating system, but with minimal visual changes in each new version, the interface of the Nokia E5 - even if it is aimed exclusively at business users - looks very outdated. As usual, convenient in terms of functionality, Symbian OS in Nokia E5 provides all the same functions and the same menu layout as in many other devices from the Finnish vendor.

Network and sync:

Nokia E5 supports GSM, 3G, Wi-Fi, A-GPS and Bluetooth standards, so owners of the device are unlikely to face any problems when transferring information. The model is compatible with the SyncML synchronization protocol and Exchange group services, guaranteeing its owner a permanent presence on the network and the ability to quickly exchange information. In addition, the Nokia E5 has Nokia's proprietary applications such as, for example, Ovi Chat and Ovi Contacts, and a number of the most popular applications such as mobile versions of Facebook, YouTube, MySpace, Twitter.

The quality of Internet surfing on the Nokia E5 leaves much to be desired: a small screen with a low resolution and the lack of touch control of the functions of the built-in Symbian browser again make you remember the obsolescence of Symbian - especially given the variety of modern touch phones and browsers designed specifically for mobile devices.

Camera and multimedia:

The Nokia E5 has a 5MP camera with LED flash but no autofocus. Since there is no key for controlling camera functions on the body panel, the camera operation mode will have to be activated through the phone menu. However, not the fastest access is the only drawback of the device's camera, which provides several additional functions: for example, panorama mode, 6-image burst mode, timer. The quality of the captured images for a camera without auto focus is quite acceptable - especially when shooting objects at a distance of up to one and a half meters. Although the power of the LED flash is not enough to light up the whole room, it is quite enough to brighten dark objects.

The Nokia E5 camera records video at 15 frames per second in MP4 format; video resolution can be 320x240 or 640x480 pixels. Some photography options, such as white balance and color saturation control, can also be used when shooting video.

The preinstalled Nokia E5 mp3 player is a standard Symbian player that provides quick access to your favorite music and supports the most common audio formats: MP3, AAC, AAC+, eAAC+ and WMA, as well as FM radio.

Performance:

Luckily, the developers of the Nokia E5 have kept the same 600 MHz processor as in the E72, so the phone's performance doesn't suffer even when multiple applications are running at the same time.

The quality of the transmitted sound signal, traditionally for Nokia, is on top: the sounds are clear, and ambient noise is minimal. The quality of the received signal is slightly worse, but at a normal volume setting, all sounds are still perfectly audible. Perhaps Nokia's main shortcoming in terms of connectivity is its 3G signal reception, which turned out to be below average. With intensive use of Wi-Fi, an mp3 player and an e-mail service, you will have to charge the device every day or two.

Although BlackBerry products are still the best business smartphone for many buyers, Nokia has been producing quite successful business models for a long time - both the E71 and E72 won the recognition of buyers.

The QWERTY keyboard form factor is very popular among buyers. Nokia has been releasing phones with QWERTY keyboards very often lately.

Therefore, on this page we present to your attention those models Nokia with QWERTY keyboard which are currently on sale and available for purchase.

First qwerty phones launched by the American company Blackberry. And this form factor has become very, very popular. Those users who often work with text write a lot of messages, telephones with qwerty most suitable.

Phones with QWERTY keyboards are slightly wider than regular phones. But on the other hand, each manufacturer tries to make the thickness as small as possible. It is especially worth highlighting the qwerty phone models in a metal case, for example, the Nokia E6-00 model.

As mobile phones with touch screens entered the market, customers wanted to combine the advantages of two form factors: a touch screen and a full-sized physical QWERTY keyboard. Demand touchscreen phone with qwerty keyboard is not very large, so there are not many such models in the Nokia catalog. In addition, now they are no longer produced and have long moved to the section "Archive".

On this page we present to you phone catalog with qwerty keyboard. We follow all the announcements of new models and keep our catalog up to date.

We are always happy to help you in choosing and buying a phone with qwerty.
